At that point, it doesn\u2019t matter what they\u2019re selling – they just want to sell it. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n As anyone with even a modicum of marketing experience will tell you, that\u2019s a recipe for disaster. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Today\u2019s consumers are inundated <\/em>with advertisements. We are drowning <\/em>in marketing copy, in product pitches and brand awareness campaigns. This has had a few effects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n One of the biggest reasons MLMs have such a bad reputation is because they employ a veritable army <\/em>of people who don\u2019t understand the above. They try to pressure people into buying or joining based on half-truths. They\u2019re obsessed with their bottom line and don\u2019t care about much else. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There\u2019s something else that most MLM consultants don\u2019t understand about marketing. At the end of the day, your bottom line is secondary. <\/em>What actually matters is the people you\u2019re selling to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If someone buys a product from you once, that\u2019s good. You\u2019ve made a sale. But there\u2019s no guarantee that the customer will tell their friends and family about you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n There\u2019s no guarantee that they care much about your brand. There\u2019s no guarantee they\u2019ll speak positively about your products, either through social media or online reviews. And there\u2019s no guarantee they\u2019ll buy from you again. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If someone trusts your business<\/em>? If they form a connection with your brand rather than purchasing a single product? You haven\u2019t just secured a sales lead – you\u2019ve forged a relationship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Successful marketing requires that you understand your audience\u2019s needs. It demands that you learn to look at things from their perspective. That you prioritize offering them something of value rather than focusing solely on your own needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Perhaps more importantly, great marketing requires that you <\/em>care not just about the people you\u2019re selling to, but about what you\u2019re selling them. <\/em> In other words, it requires both passion and empathy. These are things most MLM consultants either don\u2019t understand they need or simply lack altogether. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Starting a business does <\/em>require an upfront investment. There\u2019s no denying that. The problem with most MLMs is that people don\u2019t <\/em>use their money intelligently and they invest with no concept of whether or not they can actually succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To put it another way, they drank the MLM kool-aid and spent money they don\u2019t necessarily have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The lesson here is simple. Where marketing is concerned, where <\/em>you invest matters just as much as how <\/em>you invest.
