Specifically, LCP measures how fast a page loads. In essence, the tool analyzes the load time of the page&#8217;s largest content element.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Content types that LCP may measure include:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Background images&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Video thumbnails<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Images<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Block-level HTML elements such as paragraphs&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Headers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How is LCP Measured?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>There should be a section in your <a href=\"https:\/\/search.google.com\/search-console\/\">Search Console<\/a> that allows you to generate a Core Web Vitals Report. Specifically, this will provide a granular view of how each URL on your site performs based on historical user data. Subsequently, each URL will receive a score of Poor, Needs Improvement, or Good.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For LCP, these values are measured as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Good: <\/strong>2.5 seconds or less<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Needs Improvement: <\/strong>Between&nbsp; 2.6 seconds and four seconds.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Poor: <\/strong>Greater than four seconds.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Alternatively, you can use Google&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/speed\/pagespeed\/insights\/\">PageSpeed Insights tool<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/developers.google.com\/web\/tools\/lighthouse\/\">Chrome Lighthouse<\/a>, or the AMP Page Experience Guide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to Optimize for LCP<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Load time has always been extremely important, even before Google officially started considering it a ranking signal. As noted by <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/webmasters\/answer\/9205520?hl=en\">Google&#8217;s own support documentation<\/a>, if a page&#8217;s load time increases from one to three seconds, the page&#8217;s bounce rate increases by 32%. Meanwhile, an increase from one to six seconds will see a 106% increase in bounce rate.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Essentially, if you&#8217;ve optimized your website well for speed, you don&#8217;t need to do anything special for LCP. You&#8217;re already optimized. They aren&#8217;t going to change the way anyone searches, nor should they have any impact on how you optimize and design your site.
